Holetown at Night

This is probably my first real venture into long exposure photography. On assignment for a client overseas the historic Holetown in Barbados was one of my stops. This particular area is located on a boardwalk of sorts. There isn’t much to the left or right of the frame to catch the eye; so my focus had to be the last glimmer of light from that evening’s sunset. The lens of choice that evening was my Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8 lens. To be honest this lens was on the market for sale for quite some time but for some reason I felt the need to use it. Good thing I didn’t sell it. A bit of light painting in the foreground with my cell phone and voila!!

It’s a DX lens so the end result was cropped significantly by my D600 which is a full frame camera. Nevertheless I’m very pleased with the results. The settings are in the caption of the photo below. Hope you enjoy this shot as much as I do and look out for more to come. I think I will turn this into a series of blog posts of different spots around the island. Stay tuned!
